Please note it is only necessary to register if you wish to add research to the register. As a number of organisations submit projects to the site, you may find that they can do it on your behalf.
Local Authority Contacts who are Research Governance Framework (RGF) lead officers in local Councils Department of Health (DH) Policy Research Programme National Institute for Health Research - School for Social Care Research (NIHR-SSCR) Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE)
In each Council with Social Services Responsibilities (CSSR) in England, a designated RGF lead is responsible for sending details of all projects funded by the Council to the Register. The RGF lead has the authority to add research to the site and/or share their user ID and password with other staff who wish to add to the Register.
If you unsure if your authority is registered please check the RGF list on the website http://www.researchregister.org.uk/governance.asp
Information about social care research funded by the DH Policy Research Programme (PRP) is usually submitted to the Register by the Department of Health. In some cases the research units add these records
e.g. The Personal Social Services Research Unit (PSSRU); the Social Care Workforce Research Unit (SCWRU) and the Social Policy Research Unit (SPRU) submit records of all research they undertake.
Records of all NIHR-SSCR research are submitted by staff from the School
Information about other social care research may be added as appropriate by the Register team at SCIE (example: records from CERUK plus, a database of current education & children's services research).
In some cases researchers need to submit their own research, for example where the research is funded by government departments (other than DH), charities or the NHS.
